Overseer of Twine strategy & operations; Guy who stays up nights worrying about whether Twine customers and staff are happy.
In the early 1990s, I was fortunate to be part of a team that built and supported a collaboration platform for Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I immediately became inspired by the transformative power of online collaboration in education and have dedicated my career since that time to helping students do better by providing great collaboration software for schools.
As a business owner I’m grateful to work every day among people with shared values of integrity, service, excellence, and connection.
When not working I enjoy spending time with my wife & daughter, raising puppies to (hopefully) become service dogs for Canine Companions for Independence, running, singing (but not while running), and scuba diving or skiing when I can.
Mark Dowdell, Product Development
I’m the guy who`s job it is to make sure that the various different pieces of Twine are tied together into a solid and seamless whole; the one who gets up at night when Gary`s worried about Twine customers.
My father was an accomplished engineer and educator who did a lot for education in Africa, and he instilled in me an understanding of just how fundamental good education is to the future health of humanity. I`ve been working with technology ever since I was a corporate salesman for the BIC pen company and decided that there had to be a better way to manage the process - and then developed one that the company bought for all of the sales people. Over the years I’ve built a lot of software and devised solutions for various industries and even have a patent for fitting children`s shoes that is in use today. I`ve been working in the Educational sector since 2001.
When I`m not at a computer terminal, I love to ski (snow and water), play the guitar and piano and, if I do say so myself, I`m a fantastic cook.
Kirstie Carter, Support & Implementation Specialist
I’m the primary point of contact when you click the "blue question mark" or email firstname.lastname@example.org. I also assist Gary with Twine implementations. I take pride in my job and appreciate that it's hardly ever the same thing daily. I like to say I wear a lot of hats, and I like it like that.
In 2007, I was fortunate to become apart of the team that now provides Twine K-12. Garys' dedication to our customers, his staff, and the companies' integrity is a large part of why I'm here, smiling, and excited about the Twine K-12 product as well as what Twine can do for schools (and teachers).
I'm proud to have been apart of Gary's team for so long and apart of Twine from the start. Being a valued member of this team is extremely rewarding.
When not working I enjoy spending time with my husband, our southern flying squirrels Squee and Loki (google it, they are ADORABLE), and our bearded dragon Cupcake. To contrast my technical background I also enjoy knitting, crochet, sewing, and other crafts, you could say I'm "a bit" DIY or crafty.
Isabelle Richard, Marketing
I spend a lot of energy trying to make sure that every word and image we use tells the right story. In all spheres of my life, I take delight in the process of self-evaluation, improvement, and re-evaluation. I want to end each day a better person than I started it.
I came to Twine from a completely different industry where I was one of the founders and president of a company that made excellent winter boat storage shelters. Both of my kids attended a well-respected private school but, once I saw what Twine does, I realized just how bad my school’s communications systems were for us parents. After I sold my company, I was introduced to Twine and I felt like I had found something I could really get excited about and the rest, as they say, is history.
When I'm not busy extolling the virtues of Twine, I'm busy extolling the virtues of healthy exercise (and picking up after yourself) to my two teenage daughters. I practice yoga daily and I love to snow ski (downhill and cross country) and hike. If you can't beat the snow, you might as well enjoy it!
Allison You, Technology Integrator
I've lost count of the number of hats I wear, but generally, if any two parts of Twine aren't getting along, I step in and put them in the corner until they play nicely.
I have a strong background in programming and development, but I've found that I have a special skill in developing the bridges that bring different technologies together to form a new, interoperable whole. I've been specializing in educational technologies for over fifteen years.
My passions are cross-country skiing, running, and generally being as fit as I can be, and I do love my cats.
Michael Li, Developer
I`m the one who writes the code that makes Twine...uh...tick. I get to develop, test, evaluate, retest, evaluate, retest, and evaluate the Twine engine ... wait, did I mention the testing part?
I have a degree in computer science and have worked for the past eighteen years developing educational systems, primarily around enterprise-level web management and communications technologies.
To balance out the hours of still concentration behind my keyboard, I love to be outdoors, camping in the mountains and forests of Canada, and my two favorite ways to burn off energy are to be out in nature, cross-country skiing or, in the summer, running marathons and even ultra-marathons.
Beth W. V. Adjutant, Client Education
I enthusiastically support school leaders looking to learn more about Twine! If I don't know the answers, I always know which member of our team does. I enjoy sharing the news of what Twine can really do, because it's amazing and simple; and we all can't use more of that in our lives!
My journey to Twine is an interesting story in it's self, but I think the common thread is I enjoy helping others find what they need....and my superpower is "Organizing Chaos"!
When I am not working, my husband, our two children and I enjoy exploring. We just moved to Coastal Georgia from New Hampshire two years ago, so between road trips trips to visit family and all that is new area here in Georgia, we have lots to see, learn and enjoy!
